Public administrations have handled over 55 million electronic invoices since June 2014 - when eInvoicing became mandatory, announced AGID, the country’s Agency for the Digitalisation of the Public Sector. The handling costs of electronic invoices are some EUR 17 lower, translating to a total saving of close to EUR 1 billion, the agency says.
AGID says that local public administrations benefit the most from the switch to FatturaPA, as they handle about 41% of all electronic invoices.
Electronic invoicing is one of the key projects in Italy’s Digital Agenda, AGID adds. Since the beginning of this year, the FatturaPA system can be used for free by companies and citizens to send invoices.
