The European Commission is currently evaluating the ISA² programme and the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) to present a reinforced public sector interoperability policy in 2021.
The EIF is setting 47 recommendations to set-up interoperable EU public services. It refers to “better legislation for smoother implementation” under the title legal interoperability and recommends to
"Ensure that legislation is screened by means of ‘interoperability checks’, to identify any barriers to interoperability. When drafting legislation to establish a European public service, seek to make it consistent with relevant legislation, perform a ‘digital check’ and consider data protection requirements." (EIF section 3.3)
Our work with this community is about putting this recommendation in practice with the funding of the ISA² programme. We are closely involved in the current revision of the EU interoperabilty policy. During the first consulations activities (roadmap and inception workshop) some stakeholders have already highlighted the role of digital-readyness of policies to foster interoperability.
