IOPEU Academy course providers gathered to discuss the vision for new content

On Thursday, April 27th, Interoperable Europe Academy held a webinar for the existing and future course owners, as well as  teachers, in order to provide them with updates on course creation processes, resources for course development, student engagement as well as promotional activities. Keep reading to discover the topics discussed during the webinar!

The IOPEU Academy Curriculum is currently being finalised!

  • It was discussed with the course owners as all courses will be integrated in different learning journeys and skills areas. This will help learners easily navigate the courses depending on their learning needs!

An analysis of the existing IOPEU Academy courses has been carried out.

  • A quality check that was performed on all courses in order to determine whether they need to be updated, for example due to changes in legislation, among other factors. Also, the team shared with participants the course creation priorities.

  • Additionally, the team presented the different steps that course owners need to follow in the course creation process together with the course creation efforts and roles of both the project team and the course owners in that process.

The new Course Creation Guidelines are being updated to reflect the latest needs in the course creation process, including:

  • A new way of delivering e-Learning content: micro-learning. Micro-learning courses are short form of learning units, that focus on a single objective. They are a great fit to explain topics in detail but do not substitute normal courses, they are complementary. As this is a new concept, the team has developed guidelines for the creation of micro courses to help course owners deliver content.

  • A visual make-over: The visual aspect of courses has been modified, as the thumbnails for standard courses have changed and new micro-learning thumbnails have been created. Also, when completing a course, learners will receive the new and improved certificate.

Promotional activities for the IOPEU Academy courses were discussed and they include:

Promotions

  • A strong social media presence, frequently posting regarding recent developments as well as newly released courses

  • The recently launched Community Page on EU Academy, which hosts all the courses that fall under the IOPEU Academy umbrella. can access all IOPEU materials in one place!

  • The Academy’s well-established community and solution on Joinup, where all news, events and documents are shared.

As always, after the presentation, a fruitful discussion took place, based on the participants’ thoughts and questions, including inquiries about the certification, microlearning, identifying use cases for IOPEU Academy courses, the service of building the storyboard and animation for course development as well as whether course creation guidelines include instructions for preparing a course for translation. The IOPEU Academy team promptly addressed each question and took into account the valuable feedback given by the audience.

The Interoperable Europe Academy would like to thank all the participants and invite them to keep checking for updates and future events!
