Description: CEF Context Broker is an API that can integrate data from multiple systems, creating a holistic view of information.

By providing the layer that describes each type of data, the Context Broker makes it possible to create an interface that makes it easy for anyone to view and interpret big data. Using the Context Broker, organisations can monitor their metrics in real time through live updates. You can share the context information you choose with third parties, enabling process improvements and innovation across the whole data value chain.

Context Broker implements the following recommendations as explained below:

✅ Recommendation 4  | Principle 2: Openness
The CEF Context Broker is based on open specifications and open standards.

✅ Recommendation 5 | Principle 3: Transparency
Context Broker provides a transparent interface (API) so that organisations can integrate data from multiple systems, creating a holistic view of information.

✅ Recommendation 6  | Principle 4: Reusability 
Context Broker provides specifications, a core platform and reference implementation software which can be used by organisations. By reusing context broker, organisations can integrate data from multiple systems counting on increased analysis capacity.

✅ Recommendation 7  | Principle 4: Reusability 
The CEF Context Broker enables organisations (including but not limited to public administrations) to manage and share data in real-time. 

✅ Recommendation 8  | Principle 5: Technological neutrality
The CEF Context Broker provides the FIWARE NGSI API, which is a RESTful API, hence enabling various applications to provide updates and get access to context information (i.e. does not impose any technological restrictions).

Given that CEF Context Broker provides FIWARE NGSI API, it helps to ensure data sharing and portability.

The Context Broker building block is fully compliant with and provide reference implementations of the Context Information Management API standard set by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).
