and administrations, making it the ideal place for the exchange of ideas on interoperability! That is why it has been the place to be for the Interoperable Europe Academy team for the past three years, making this year’s participation the fourth one in a row!

Over the years, Interoperable Europe Academy has hosted a series of sessions, each highlighting different aspects of interoperability. For their first participation on 2020, the Interoperable Europe Academy team held a particularly engaging session revolving around the European Interoperability Framework (EIF). Attendees discovered the three pillars of the framework and learned how interoperability contributes to the design of integrated public services. More information on the participation of 2021 can be found here and the one of 2022 here.

Facilitators
In the upcoming edition, Andrea Halmos, the Deputy Head of the DIGIT Unit, as well as the Project Officers Bernard Claes and Victoria Kalogirou will be joining the IOPEU Academy team, which consists of Katarina Manojlovic and Chrisa Christodoulaki. Together, they will aim to emphasize the significance of interoperability in the public sector in addition of aligning NIFs with the EIF, equipping participants with the knowledge needed to navigate the dynamic world of interoperability.

The agenda will go as follows:

Samos Summit 2023 lecture and workshop:

- Tuesday, 27th of June (9.00-10.30 CEST), lecture on:

- Friday, 30th of June (11.00-12.30 CEST), workshop on the topic of:

The IOPEU Academy in practice: Interoperability basics and beyond: The Alignment of National Interoperability Frameworks (NIFs) to the European Interoperability Framework (EIF).

The lecture aims to educate attendees about interoperability solutions and to give them insights into Interoperable Europe Academy and the newly developed Interoperable Academy Curriculum, which is designed to give a structured interoperability learning journey. The participants will also learn about the Interoperable Europe Act Proposal, a legal initiative driving digital transformation and seamless information exchange across EU borders.

This year’s interactive workshop will focus on the topic of ‘Alignment of NIFs to the EIF’, which is also the latest course developed by the Academy. The course is specifically designed to empower national public administrations with essential knowledge, practical skills, and effective tools required to successfully align their national interoperability frameworks (NIFs) with the European Interoperability Framework (EIF). The workshop holds great significance, as it aligns directly with the overarching theme of the Samos Summit, emphasizing the crucial role of ICT in governance. Through the IOPEU Academy's approach, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of aligning NIFs to the EIF and its direct contribution to the broader vision of ICT-Enabled Governance within the European context.

Following that, a brief presentation of the 'European Union Public License (EUPL)' course will be included. This course is currently under production, and it aims help the learners explore the legal aspects of software licensing in the EU, specifically the European Union Public License (EUPL) in a comprehensive way.
