Catalogue of Services Webinar - 12 November 2019 10:00-12:00 CET

Published on: 31/10/2019 Last update: 09/12/2020 Event Archived

As part of its action "Catalogue of Services", the ISA² Programme of the European Commission is working on developing a common data model for enriching the information about procedures as one of the key elements for the implementation of the Single Digital Gateway.

In this context, the Catalogue of Services team organised a webinar that took place on the 12th of November from 10:00 to 12:00 CET (GMT+1).

An overview of the activities of the webinar [0:00]

Agenda [2:55]

Context of the work [4:05]

Why do we need a common interoperability layer for the SDG? [10:30]

Approach & objectives [1:05:40]

Identifying and mapping SDG regulation concepts to existing data models [1:30:43]

How do we continue from here? [1:49:10]

During the webinar we discussed how to model the different concepts in the common data model and in relevant classifications. The concepts proposed will come from the Single Digital Gateway Regulation, and in particular from its Annexes I and II. We will publish the list of concepts identified before and during the webinar in the coming weeks on GitHub.

Additionally, we will start publishing issues on the Catalogue of Services repository on GitHub with the label 'SDG domain model'. Issues will tackle the question on how to map SDG concepts in a common data model. For example, how do we map authentication, identification, phases, etc.? We give an example of an issue about how to model a 'Procedure' (Annex II, SDG Regulation): https://github.com/catalogue-of-services-isa/CPSV-AP/issues/42

Why do we need a common data model?

  • It will make all services provided through the SDG much more easy to find (e.g. search and chatbots) across countries and languages.
  • It will help users to compare systems in different countries before making use of their single market rights.
  • It will provide an important building block for the implementation of the once-only system.
  • It will make collecting comparable statistics much more easy and accurate.
  • It will enable you to map your current models against one (only), structure your information for exchanging it across borders and automate to a large extent the validation of the quality of your descriptions.

We are still looking for input to create this model. Among other things:

  • Public service data models, used by federal / national levels.
  • Public service classifications.
  • Public service mappings to the 21 procedures.
