Location Intelligence for Cities and Regions: preparing the ground for smart places of the future
Local and regional governments play a crucial role in tackling major societal challenges and improving the quality of life of citizens and communities. They interact and support citizens during many key life events. In doing this, they are increasingly dependent on location data and location intelligence, which help them to better understand and proactively respond to the needs of citizens and improve their decision-making and public service delivery processes.
In this webinar, Glenn Vancauwenberghe and Thérèse Steenberghen from KU Leuven will present the state of art and future perspectives on the use of location data and technologies by local and regional governments.
The webinar will provide you with insights on:
- The EU policy framework and key EU initiatives on local and regional development and innovation
- The current and future challenges facing local and regional authorities and how geospatial data and technologies can help in addressing these challenges
- The transformation of decision making and service delivery processes at local and regional level in different policy domains
- Strategies and actions for enabling local and regional innovation through location intelligence and interoperability
Should you have any questions or interests concerning this topic, there will be an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session at the end of the webinar.
On 14 October 2020, during the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities, a Participatory Lab on ‘Location Intelligence4Cities and Regions’ will be organised at 11:30 CEST, in which the main results and findings from the webinar, including the feedback from the participants will be further discussed and additional practical examples and cases will be presented.
This webinar is the eleventh of a series of “Webinars” performed by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre under the ELISE ISA2 Action. The aim of these webinars is to quickly engage with new topics of relevance to the Digital transformation of Government by leveraging the use of geospatial data, technology and skills in line with interoperability frameworks and practices
The webinar will take place on the 03/09/2020 at 14h00 CEST (UTC+2).
